How does Tonmind IP paging compare to traditional PA systems?+
Traditional PA systems require a dedicated amplifier, separate speaker wiring runs and manual operation. Tonmind IP paging uses your existing LAN network — PoE-powered ceiling speakers plug directly into network switches, are managed from the IP PBX, and can be scheduled automatically. This significantly reduces installation cost and adds features like zone control, call recording and smartphone announcement.
Can Tonmind paging integrate with Grandstream UCM?+
Yes. Tonmind IP paging amplifiers and speakers register as SIP extensions or paging groups on Grandstream UCM. Any phone on the UCM can dial a paging group to broadcast an announcement to all Tonmind speakers simultaneously — making it ideal for schools, factories and office buildings.
What is multicast paging and when should I use it?+
Multicast paging broadcasts audio directly to a group IP address — all speakers in that group play simultaneously without individual SIP call setup. It is used when you need instant, simultaneous announcements across a zone (e.g., factory floor, school corridor) and latency must be minimal. Tonmind supports both SIP and multicast paging.
